Senior Manager, People Operations

Kotn is looking for a Senior Manager, People Operations to support business growth by leading and executing HR strategies that strengthen our people infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring broad generalist experience with a focus on managing the full employee lifecycle, building and optimizing processes, supporting organizational capacity and growth and ensuring compliance throughout the organization.

Reporting to: Senior Director, Consumer Channels

What you’ll be working on:

Employee Lifecycle & Experience (30%)

  • Own the design and continuous improvement of Kotn’s employee lifecycle programs, from onboarding to offboarding, ensuring they reflect Kotn’s values and business priorities
  • Develop strategies to enhance employee engagement, retention, and career growth opportunities
  • Oversee performance management processes, including goal-setting, reviews, feedback frameworks, and leadership coaching
  • Partner with leadership to design and maintain succession planning frameworks to ensure organizational continuity

HR Operations & Compliance (30%)

  • Lead compliance outcomes through high standards of data integrity, process efficiency, and compliance with employment legislations across global retail and Toronto HQ
  • Monitor evolving labor laws and regulatory changes in each jurisdiction, proactively adapting Kotn’s policies, contracts, and practices to ensure compliance
  • Establish, review, and update people-related policies and procedures, ensuring they are globally consistent while allowing for local flexibility and legal requirements
  • Partner with Finance to oversee compliance with global and local requirements such as workplace safety, payroll and tax regulations, mandatory training, and reporting obligations
  • Partner with external legal counsel, benefits providers, and regulatory bodies as needed to ensure Kotn is well-represented and risk is mitigated
  • Partner with leadership to provide guidance and oversight in complex employee relations matters across jurisdictions, balancing cultural nuance, legal standards, and Kotn’s values
  • Champion equity, inclusion, and safe workplace practices globally, ensuring employees experience Kotn as a fair, transparent, and high-performing environment regardless of location

Recruitment & Talent Strategy (20%)

  • Partner with Executive leadership to build and execute a workforce planning strategies across HQ and retail
  • Define recruiting strategies to attract, select, and retain top talent across functions and regions
  • Manage the preparation of offer letters and employment contracts, and lead candidate offer negotiations to ensure a smooth and consistent hiring process.
  • Partner with hiring managers to establish consistent, equitable hiring practices and employer branding initiatives
  • Drive improvements in onboarding programs to accelerate productivity and long-term engagement

Total Rewards: Compensation, Benefits & Payroll (20%)

  • Partner with Executive leadership to design and manage competitive compensation frameworks, including salary bands, bonus structures, and equity programs
  • Oversee the design and execution of benefits programs that meet the diverse needs of employees while managing costs
  • Partner with Finance on payroll accuracy, compliance, and budgeting, with strategic oversight of pay equity

Additional Requirements:

  • Formal education in a related field with an HR designation considered an asset (CHRP, CHRL)
  • Minimum of 6 years of broad generalist experience in a progressively senior HR positions
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience coaching and leading a small People team
  • Alignment with the company’s ethos considered a requirement for this department
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting critical deadlines
  • Experience in Retail or Apparel industries would be considered an asset
