The Many Homes of Highland Park
With our brand’s roots in Egypt, we’ve always been here for a little bit of history. So naturally, when scouting the location for our first LA—and first permanent US—store, we were drawn to one of Los Angeles’s oldest annexed neighbourhoods, Highland Park. A notable artist hub since the late 1880s, today, the area is designated a historic district.
To get acquainted with our new community and the many people who have called it home, we took a walk through its architectural and design history. We asked local historian for the Los Angeles Conservancy, Charles Fisher, to share some knowledge along the way.
